Larry, Pat, Linda, and myself planned this trip to Orange Beach in September 2015. Larry and Pat are going to Augusta to attend the Masters in April so they needed a place to stop and rest as they traveled from Texas to Georgia. We felt the Alabama Gulf Coast was just where they needed to stop. Great seafood, great beaches, great weather, and great golf. (Tomorrow, golf day, has a 100 % forecast chance of rain). (Courtney says a rainy day at the beach is better than a day at work). So we found a very nice condo to lease at the "Escapes to the Shores" in Orange Beach. It has two king master suites. ( a long ways from Huxford, Al) . We reserved the apartment in September for 3 days, March 31 to April 3rd and guaranteed our March arrival. Some time passed and we finished paying for the condo in February. Well, a couple of weeks ago, Linda and I received an email from Meyer Realty asking if we would like to come a day early or extend our stay a day at a discounted rate. We thought that would be a good idea to go down early and make sure our accommodations were suitable for my brother and Pat.
We arrived at Meyer and checked in. A very nice lady welcomed us to Gulf Shores and gave us our registration packet. We checked our paperwork and I noticed that it indicated that our check out date was Saturday April 2nd. I brought this discrepancy to the young lady's attention and she explained to me that there was no mistake, the apartment would had been leased by another tenant on Saturday. At this point the situation deteriorated. Linda showed her our reservation confirmation and the clerk said "please excuse me, I must talk to the manager". She came back in about 10 minutes with 3 options for us. They were not acceptable. I asked "why not check with the people you gave our apartment to?" She said, "Sir, it is easier to deal with you in person, rather than try to email them." wrong answer. Linda said "No, we rented a condo with two master suites and that what we expected." The clerk said," Would you please excuse me? I need to talk with the manager." She came back in a few minutes and said that everything had been worked out and they would honor our reservation. I might add that one of the inducements they offered was a $200.00 credit for a future rental with Meyer. That would have been wasted on us.
Everything worked out well. We got what we paid for. Larry and Pat are scheduled to get here on Thursday.
